whoIs J28
A Personal Note
Getting back on my feet, more than once and in more ways than one.
After I was unceremoniously laid off from my most recent role, I luckily was able to still find time to be involved in a severe car accident that left me hospitalized for several months, then chair-bound for many more as I retrained myself to walk.
Since then, employment has remained out of reach. J28 is what I am building now as a way to create stability and move forward with something I am pasionate about in an attempt to keep my head above water, then to achieve the lofty goals I have in mind for this project.

Every purchase, share, or contribution helps cover immediate needs and keeps this project moving forward.
J28 takes its name from January 28th, 2012, the day Occupy Oakland called for a “move-in day” to reclaim abandoned buildings and turn them into community spaces. A nod to January 28 (J28)

Why This Exists
J28 is built on the idea that what we wear can carry meaning, quietly or boldly. Each design is meant to:
- Challenge authoritarianism and systems of inequality through visual messaging.
- Offer subtle, coded expressions of solidarity for those who recognize it (IYKYK).
- Build toward supporting grassroots efforts and mutual aid networks as this project grows.
How It Works
-
- Print-on-Demand: Items are made only when ordered, reducing waste and upfront costs.
- Ethical Sourcing: Suppliers are selected with attention to labor conditions and production standards.
- Community-Oriented: Designs are informed by shared ideas, lived experiences, and collaboration over time.
Community Resources (In Progress)
A dedicated section for community resources and mutual aid connections is currently under construction. The goal is to highlight organizations, tools, and networks aligned with the spirit behind J28.If you have questions, resources, ideas, or information to contribute, you can share them HERE.
